As
it's name implies, the FlexWAV system is designed to
give you the maximum flexibility in putting together the perfect video
system for your application.
First,
you need to understand that a
wireless video system is made of 4 main components:
1. The video source - This can be one of our high quality CCD cameras, or it can be the video output from your still digital camera 2. The transmitter - This takes the video from your video source and transmits it wirelessly to the ground 3. The receiver - The receiver captures the signal from the transmitter and displays it on a monitor 4. The monitor - This takes the video output from the receiver and displays the video Step 1: Select a Transmitter/Receiver set Currently we only offer a 200mw version of the FlexWAV, so your transmitter/receiver set is pretty much decided: FlexWAV tx/rx set with high gain patch antenna: $299 (est March) Step 2: Select a Video Monitor We don't offer monitors yet, so you'll need to find a TV, Camcorder or other monitor that can accept a composite video input. The composite video input is generally a yellow RCA jack labeled 'video' or 'video in' Step 3: Select a camera The camera is where you currently have some choices so that's where we'll spend most of our discussion. A variety of factors will influence your choice, but the main ones are resolution, light sensitivity (lux), color handling, contrast, weight and cost. As a general rule, the 'better' camera will have: HIGHER Resolution LOWER lux BETTER color handling BETTER contrast LOWER weight LOWER cost Keep these in mind as you review the cameras below.
