Digital Photography Live Video Downlink
Wireless video preview for your digital camera

Black Widow A/V, LLC is very pleased to introduce a unique application for our popular BWAV200 wireless video system.  By replacing the video camera on the system with a standard RCA jack, we have created the perfect video downlink to allow aerial photography enthusiasts the ability to see exactly what their digital camera will see while it is in the air.  The live preview gives the photographer an unprecented level of control over scene selection and image composition.

Randomly shooting a lot of pictures in the air costs nothing, but getting the right picture is priceless.

Small, lightweight, and powerful transmitter
The entire aerial portion of the Digi-Live system is very small, leaving more of your weight 'budget' for a larger, higher resolution digital camera.

Wide input voltage
Like it's brother the BWAV200, Digi-Live system has a very wide input voltage range to give users the maximum flexibility in powering the system.  Use any readily available 4 cell RC pack, or step into cutting edge technology and use a pair of lithium-polymer batteries for extended run times.

Technical Specifications:
TX Power: 5v-8.4v 450mA Input
RF output: 200mw
TX Frequencies: 2410, 2430, 2450, 2470
RX Power: 12v  350mA
TX Weight:(including antenna): 1.2 ounces
Interface: RCA jack accepts standard composite video input.  Please check your digital camera to be sure it has a 'video out'!

Four channels, no waiting
The Digi-Live system can operate on any of 4 channels to allow users the flexibility of operating multiple systems at the same time.  For complicated shoots, this allows multiple cameras in the air to be monitored.

No power switch to fail
We continue our tradition of designing the lightest and most reliable system in the industry by avoiding unnecessary mechanical breaks between the transmitter and battery.

Built in audio
The Digi-Live has a built in microphone that features an incredibly wide dynamic range that adjusts automatically based on ambient noise.  Maintain an audio diary at the beginning and end of each flight by speaking into the microphone, and then monitor the function of your aircraft and digital camera while in the air.

Small and lightweight receiver
The  receiver included with the Digi-Live system is another step forward in technology. Lightweight and sturdily designed,  it can be powered from the included wall transformer, or by any 12v DC power source like an RC 'field' battery or car battery. ***Note: Receiver color may vary***

Here is an example installation.  The Digi-live system is connected to the video out port of the Olympus Brio digital camera (shown here for example purposes only, it is NOT included!):

To determine if YOUR digital camera is compatible with the Digi-Live system,  your camera must have the following capabilities:

1) It must have the ability to plug into a standard RCA jack on your TV or VCR and display a live picture from the camera.  If you cannot get this to work with your TV or VCR, you will NOT get it to work with the Digi-Live.
2) You must have the ability to trigger the camera from the air.  The Digi-Live system will not do this for you.  On our Olympus Brio, we used the tried-and-true method of glueing a servo over the shutter button.

The Digi-Live system is NOT a fancy interface to your Digital Camera.  It simply takes the video output available on many digital cameras and transmits it to a receiver on the ground where the live video image can be viewed on a monitor provided by the user.

What else can the Digi-Live be used for?
Not only does the Digi-Live system allow you to select and compose your aerial photographs better, but by videotaping the whole flight, you can review the videotape later to look for more photo opportunities that you might have missed while focusing on getting specific shots.

The video system comes with everything you need to get in the air except a battery for the transmitter, a digital camera that has 'video out' capability with live preview, and a monitor to hook to the receiver.  You'll also need a compatible cable for your digital camera for the video-out.  The receiver is powered from the included wall transformer, or you can buy a 12v gel-cell from our components page.  An A/V cable is included for the receiver.  It terminates at standard RCA male connectors for audio and video.
