This page will contain a running tally of all the questions I get asked regarding the products I have available, and about aerial video in general.

Do you sell a ready-to-fly video system?

I'd like to see what my still digital camera sees while it is strapped to my airplane.  Can you help me?

What is the range of your equipment?

I'm not much of an electronics person, I don't even own a soldering iron.  Can I build an aerial video system from your components anyway?

What is the best frequency to use for aerial video?

Do you offer a warranty?

Do I need a license to operate your equipment?

Do you sell ready-to-fly systems?
No, at the present time we only offer bare transmitter/receiver sets appropriate for the dedicated electronics enthusiast!

Many still digital cameras offer an analog video output that is compatible with the transmitters sold on this site.  Ask about our "plug-n-play" cable... while not the most compact installation, it would be a good way to create a proof-of-concept system.  The cable is free when purchasing a transmitter but you do have to specifically ask.

What is the range of your equipment?
The range of ANY video transmitter is going to depend on a variety of factors.  RF power output, antenna selection, and local flying conditions must all be considered when making a selection, and we at Black Widow AV are glad to assist you in making the right choice.  Simply email us with as much detail as you can provide on your application and we'll make sure you get the equipment that will satisfy your needs.

Most any homebrew system is going to require some understanding of electronics, and a small amount of soldering.

What is the best frequency to use for aerial video?
Whatever works best for you!  In my case that happens to be 2.4ghz, so that's what I use, and that's what I sell.

Do I need a license to operate your equipment?
This depends almost entirely on the country you will be operating the equipment in.  Generally speaking, most countries keep careful control over what sort of RF transmissions are allowed within their borders.  It is very important that you find out what the legal requirements are for operating this equipment BEFORE you purchase.  In the United States where we are based, an Amateur Radio ('Ham') license  is required to legally operate the equipment.
